Goldsmith House is a refined reinterpretation of a period home in Melbourne’s inner south-east. While retaining its original façade, the design introduces arched forms throughout—seen in double-height windows, steel-framed doors, and patio pillars. Luxurious materials like veined marble and lime-washed herringbone flooring add elegance, creating a sophisticated, timeless interior.

Goldsmith House is a unique reinterpretation of a period home in Melbourne’s inner south east. Retaining its original facade, the home showcases heritage-style arches that seamlessly continue into the renovation. This is evident in the double-height arched windows that puncture the exterior forms, steel framed doors internally, and pillars found in the outdoor patio area. The subtle domed theme is skillfully woven into the design, complemented by opulent surfaces that create an atmosphere of refined sophistication and aspirational style. Inside, the well-proportioned interiors are distinguished by the use of distinctly veined marble and lime-washed herringbone flooring.

The project commenced with a clear brief: to reenvision a family residence in Elwood, prioritizing the preservation of heritage features whilst injecting a touch of modern sophistication.

The clients sought a design that seamlessly integrated historical charm with contemporary style, aiming to establish a harmonious and elegant living space for their family. The result is a grand 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom house that blends old and new through a unique and elegant lense.
