Breed Street involved the development of a new two-storey childcare centre to support a growing community need within the surrounding residential neighbourhood. The proposal included the removal of two existing vehicle crossovers and the introduction of a single consolidated crossover to improve site access and traffic management. From a town planning perspective, the childcare use aligned with policy objectives encouraging community services in well-connected residential areas. A portion of the site fell within a Heritage Overlay, requiring a sensitive design response to ensure the works did not detract from the area’s heritage character. The project was guided by both statutory and strategic frameworks, ensuring an outcome that responded appropriately to its urban context, access requirements and heritage considerations.
