The Haines project sought to upgrade and renovate an existing residential complex within both a Heritage Overlay and a Design and Development Overlay. The proposal introduced partial demolition, internal and external alterations, and an updated car parking layout to support a more intensive residential use. The redevelopment increased capacity from 12 one-bedroom units to 14 dwellings, incorporating a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments while retaining the existing crossover and integrating a stacker system to meet parking requirements. CKA studio’s town planning team navigated the sensitive heritage and policy context to ensure the works respected the site’s character while improving housing diversity and functionality.
