The St Helena townhouses present a contemporary interpretation of suburban living, thoughtfully integrated within their natural landscape. Designed to respect the site’s topography and character, the development introduces twelve side-by-side dwellings that balance individuality with cohesion, enhancing the area’s housing diversity while maintaining a strong connection to place.

The architecture takes inspiration from traditional pitched-roof forms, reimagined here with a modern sensibility. Beyond their sculptural appeal, the steep rooflines serve practical purposes—efficiently managing rainfall, enhancing ventilation, and contributing to the overall proportion of each dwelling. Their deep, symmetrical angles add rhythm and distinction, allowing the development to stand confidently within its setting while maintaining visual harmony with the surrounding environment.

Materiality plays a key role in grounding the design. Recycled brickwork and timber batten cladding bring warmth, tactility, and a sense of craftsmanship to the façades, while clean linear detailing adds a contemporary edge. The sloping terrain has been carefully incorporated into the layout, ensuring each home feels naturally positioned within the landscape.

Interiors are flooded with natural light from west-facing façades that capture the afternoon sun and rear openings that draw in the soft glow of the morning. Generous glazing frames views of mature trees and lush greenery, enhancing the sense of openness and connection to nature.

St Helena exemplifies a balance between architectural expression and environmental sensitivity—a collection of homes that feel both grounded in their context and elevated in their design ambition.
